  • 3 star ratingPrepare to pay and leave hungry Very expensive for what it is without any frills
Not even a basket of bread will you get without paying through the nose for it.
When I asked for jug of water for the table to go alongside our alcoholic beverages I was presented with a small bottle of water that wouldn't do 1person never mind the 4of us at the table this was followed on by sparkling water to which I insisted a jug of tap water was the request the waiter begrudgingly brought a very small jug of water.
    Food is ok
    Presented lovely
Portion sizes are very small and you will leave hungry
Will not return or recommend to friends
The price Vs portion and standard dominated our conversation for rest of the evening and was a real spoiler

2 star ratingBeautiful surroundings Disappointing food The food was very hit and miss. Although everything was exceptionally presented the food was very bland especially when it came to the fish dishes. The breaded fish and chips was very oily and lacking flavour but in particular the blackened salmon dish was extremely bland. The salmon was cooked well but tasted like very basic salmon and was under seasoned, the accompaniments where awful. The watercress puree has no flavour and the mirin potatoes where like strips of raw unflavoured potato on the plate.

For the meat dishes, we got short rib and the strip loin steak and both where lovely. Again the chips where bland and in this case under cooked. The children got pizzas which they enjoyed, the childrens menu is reasonable and well done.

Overall the place is really done lovely, the staff where lovely but let down by the food and in the end if doesn’t matter how pretty the place is if the food is below par.

I did reach out to the place directly but having had no reply I have decided to post the review

4 star ratingPassed through Blackrock Village Passed through Blackrock Village during a family “Staycation” and stumbled upon this hidden gem. Money well spent by the owners and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We felt safe and the kids ran around in the garden while we enjoyed Mussels and the Beef Striploin. It was a great part of our trip!

  • 5 star ratingThe new Clermont Restaurant We recently tried out the New Clermont Restaurant, with our friends. We had a drink in the bar while we waited for our table. The young guy that served us our drinks was so welcoming and friendly. We were shown to our table in the restaurant, and the girl went through the menu in detail explaining everything, very helpful. Our meal was beautiful from starters, main course and deserts. The decor throughout is beautiful. Overall a very good experience, looking forward to our next night out in The Clermont.

2 star ratingVery poor evening meal I have enjoyed 4 visits to the Clermont at lunchtime. The menu isn't extensive at lunchtime but the food my friends and I ordered was very good. The interior is very nice, the seating comfortable and the service ok. I visited last night with friends for an evening 'dinner'. Two of us ordered spaghetti carbonara, which was practically inedible. It had no flavour at all and wasn't even hot, when served. We didn't make a fuss, but we won't return in the evening again. Thankfully there are other much better options in Ireland's tidiest small town

3 star ratingBeautiful surroundings - food needs to improve Made a last minute booking for Saturday evening.....restaurant is decorated beautifully, no doubt about it. We were brought to table but I could not say we were greeted warmly by what seemed the senior waitress. The menu was more expensive than I expected for Blackrock but I would not have minded if food had matched the price. We had seafood chowder, it needed better mix of fish, crab claws, think the portion was 7, not enough for price & bruschetta which was tasty but too expensive @ €10 ..... like seriously!
Followed by carbonara was very poor, couldnt eat it. Steak pizza which I think cost €18 but I had to look for pieces of beef on it & there was too much coriander. Fish & chips was fine, but hey can u go wrong cooking that. Overall we said we were glad we tried it but we wouldnt rush up again.....well not until they introduce an early bird for diners willing to eat at 5 or 6pm.
